Past
Kitsu Coffee began in 2024, far from Colombia — while I was studying in Australia. The idea came from my grandfather, Jesús Moreno, a lifelong coffee farmer in Tolima. As a child, I worked alongside him on the farm, harvesting coffee and learning what it truly means to the families who grow it. Being abroad, surrounded by people who had never tasted real Colombian specialty coffee, I saw an opportunity: bring what my family and our neighboring farmers had cultivated for generations, and share it with the world.
Present
What started as sharing coffee with friends in Australia became a journey across cultures. In Japan, I trained in Kendo, visited local roasters and baristas, and worked to understand the Japanese palate — bringing samples of Tolima's specialty coffee to cafés eager to discover something new. Today, that same journey continues in Korea, where I'm building relationships with local roasters through friends and family of my Kendo teacher, a proud Korean woman who opened that door for us.
A heartfelt thank you to Hyun Hong Cho, my Kendo sensei — without her generosity and trust, this bridge between Colombia and Korea would not exist.
Future
Kitsu Coffee is still, at its heart, a family story — my grandfather's farm, the neighbors who grow alongside him, and a mission to carry Tolima's finest microlots to roasters who value origin, traceability, and craft. As we grow, the goal remains the same: connect cultures through coffee, one relationship at a time — starting in Japan and Korea, and open to wherever that story leads next.
